Oats Besan Cheela

  1. Besan - 1 bowl
  2. Oats flour - 1 bowl
  3. Onion, finely chopped- 1
  4. Tomato, finely chopped-1 
  5. Coriander leaves, finely chopped- 2 tbsp
  6. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  7. Turmeric - 1 tsp
  8. Ginger paste - ½ tbsp
  9. Garlic -½ tbsp
  10. Chilli flakes- ½ tsp
  11. Green chilies- as per taste
  12. Salt- as per taste


  1. In a mixing bowl, add one bowl of oats flour and add besan (gram flour).
  2. Add cumin seeds, chili flakes, turmeric powder, onion, tomato, coriander leaves, ginger garlic paste, chopped green chilies, and salt as per taste. 
  3. With a wired whisk begin to mix everything.
  4. Pour about ½ cup water.
  5.  Add 1 to 3 tbsp more water if the batter looks thick. Depending on the quality and texture of besan and oats, add water accordingly.
  6. Whisk to a smooth-flowing consistency in the batter without any lumps. Break lumps if any while mixing batter.
  7. Heat a stainless steel pan on medium heat. Add a small amount of ghee and then spread the cheela batter.
  8. Use ghee on the edges and cook till cooked on both sides
  9. Serve it along with coconut chutney/ Mint chutney.
