At 37, I had just returned to India from Toronto after walking out of an abusive marriage. I had a master’s degree in Food Science and Nutrition, and three diagnoses that were getting worse every year: clinical depression, obesity - I was 97 kilograms and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition where my immune system was attacking my own thyroid.
I technically ‘knew’ more about the body than most people in any room. I had the degree. I had the knowledge. And none of it was helping me.
My past experience of doctors was just managing symptoms and fixing nothing. I was on antidepressants that numbed my cognition and made me crave carbs. I was told my conditions were genetic, chronic, and lifelong. Nobody once said “let me show you why this is happening.”
I was getting by on caffeine and willpower. I looked functional on the outside. Inside, I was falling apart.
The breakthrough
It didn’t come from a new doctor or a new diet. It came from a TEDx talk by Dr. Rangan Chatterjee, a GP who said something that changed everything: every symptom has a root cause, and your blood tests can find it, only if someone reads them the right way.
Not the way the doctors had been reading them. Not with the standard reference ranges that told me I was “normal” while I was clearly not. With functional medicine, ranges are narrower, based on the healthiest people, not the average of the sick.
I got my blood work done in India. And for the first time, I saw what was actually wrong. Not “your thyroid is low, take this pill.” But why was my thyroid failing? The deficiencies, the inflammation, the gut dysfunction that was driving everything. It was all there in the numbers, the numbers the doctors had seen and dismissed because they fell inside the “normal” range.
The reversal
I built my own protocol based on what the blood work actually showed. Nutrition, supplementation, gut repair, and environmental changes, all sequenced based on what my body needed first.
Within a year, I had reversed all my health conditions. Clinical depression gone. Obesity gone. Hashimoto’s reversed. No surgery. No lifelong medication. Just a protocol built on what my blood work revealed once someone read it properly.
The question that became iThrive
When the fog lifted, one question consumed me: why did I have to figure this out myself?
I had a master’s degree in nutrition. Most people don’t. If the system failed me.. someone with every advantage, what was it doing to everyone else?
I took my first clients. I built a clinical team. I created a methodology. And in 2019, iThrive was born, built on just one promise: nobody should have to go through what I went through to understand their own body.

This is a 30–40 minute one-on-one video consultation where Mugdha reviews your health history, current symptoms, and any past reports. The goal is to help you start connecting the dots and understand what could be driving your condition, not just manage symptoms.
No. This is not a diagnosis or treatment session. It’s a clarity session designed to give you direction helping you understand possible root causes and what your next step should be, whether that’s Root Cause Analysis or a structured program.
Not necessarily. You can book the consultation even if you don’t have reports. If you do have them, sharing them in advance helps make the session more insightful. If not, Mugdha may guide you on what tests would be relevant.
The consultation is a conversation that helps you understand your case at a high level and decide the right next step. Root Cause Analysis is a detailed, data-driven process based on blood work that goes deeper into identifying specific imbalances and building a structured plan.
This is for people who feel stuck, those who have tried multiple approaches, aren’t getting clear answers, or want expert direction before committing to a deeper programme. If you’re looking to understand your body better before taking the next step, this is the right place to start
